How to buy medicines from a Danish pharmacy?
Overview of possibilities for buying medicines in Denmark, if you are 1) living outside Denmark, and you 2) do not have a Danish citizenship:
Can I, as a foreigner from EU/EEA, not living in Denmark, buy medicines at a Danish pharmacy and have them delivered at my own address?
In Denmark we have some online pharmacies that sells and delivers medicines outside Denmark. Se a list of online pharmacies.
Be aware that it is up to the pharmacy to decide whether they will sell the medicine and send it to your home address. If you are buying medicines from Denmark and having them cross the boarders, you have to be aware that there are different rules for import, depending on what country you live in in the EU/EEA (European Economic Area). It is your responsibility to be sure that you follow the rules of your country.
What if the medicine needs prescription?
If the medicine needs a prescription in Denmark, you will have to send your original (not copied) paper version of your prescription to the pharmacy by letter or show up in person. According to the Danish Prescription Legislation, it is not allowed to email a prescription to a pharmacy. Please note that payment from one country to another is a challenge if you do not show up in person. Be aware that it is up to the pharmacy to decide whether they will approve the prescription, sell the medicine and send it to your home address. Foreign prescriptions have to contain same information as Danish ones. If essential information is missing, the pharmacy cannot approve the prescription.
Outside EU/EEA?
Prescriptions from countries outside of EU/EEA are not mentioned in the Danish Prescription Legislation. That means that it is not allowed for a Danish Pharmacy to handle prescriptions outside EU/EEA.
